Reflecting on Now

Journal Date: June 6, 2017 So imagine that you cannot turn off your thoughts. In my mind, my  memories are like pieces to a puzzle. Some of them fit and some of them do not. At times, when I try to relax my mind, it can be difficult. Nothing seems to work. As I reflect, I realize there are a few things that  I still wish to accomplish in the near future. What is it that I actually remember that is accurate about my life? Well, for one, I have not accomplished all there is and that I have set out to do. Motherhood is one, everything else seems to be a blur. Yet, I acknowledge there have been small wins along the way. Add in a few degrees and what else? Hmm-mm, nothing seems to come to mind right away.  Come to think of it, I have read more books to keep my mind occupied. In fact, once I decide to do something else, I am sure I will make headway to get it done. As of right now, its just reading, reading and more reading. Oh and also prayer. Prayer has become part of ...

Update !

Journal Date: May 21, 2017 Systemic: Relating to the good ole fashion system of the game never changes -just the players. It is the ultimate institution of systemic thinking that hinders the most intelligent individual. Thinking patterns are related to character development. It's one of the few things you realize in this journey of life. I've realized a lot in these past few years. One of them being the unshakable ability to make a decision. It is a very important step. To make a decision is the first step to becoming an independent thinker. Decision making is a threat in many ways. A decision-maker is a critical thinker. A thinker whose identity is deliberately crafted in the choices he or she makes. It is an identity that forms the characteristics of an individual. A decision maker-one who is able to determine right from left or left to right, up or down and down to up. A decision-maker uses her or his ability to understand the circumstance as...

LEARN TECH!

Journal Date: April 27, 2017 Learning is essential. I have decided to learn more about technology. It's not as easy as everyone thinks. For me to become more techie driven in the ever-changing world of social media presents a challenge, to say the least. Amidst the world of technology. I have begun to read self-help books to learn the fundamentals of tech.  Technology influences everyday life. From the mobile phone, cars to kitchen appliances. Even Steve Jobs knew technology alone was not enough technology has to be interactive.  Now, Artificial Intelligence (AI) the imminent forward projection of technology will change life expectations in how consumers interact with technology. The Harvard Business Review discuss said changes and the impact such changes will have on conventional innovation. And so it begins, technology transformations. The end of traditional businesses, the so-called enhancement of new world processes where technology eliminates excess.  ...

HUMBLE WHAT?

Journal Date: April 23, 2017 What does it mean to be humble? Why is it important to be humble? Humbleness brings a sink of lowness to the thought in people. It is difficult for people to obtain the idea of humbleness. Why, because people associate humbleness with a low status in life. When in actuality humbleness is needed for everyone to see eye-level. When you are able to see at eye-level, you never put anything hire than the next. Humbleness allows you to see a situation for what it is and everyone for who they are. People who refuse to be humble often struggle with being content. It's because of the inability to be content messes with your inner spirit of I don'ts. Then I don't have what everyone else have or I don't want the like-mindedness of a poor person. Which are a few of society standards? The biblical adage to keep you in perfect peace is the principle of loving thy neighbor as you love thyself. Humbleness is an action that infiltrates everyo...

Drink Water

Journal Date: April 21, 2017 You may have heard so many times that drinking water is essential to staying healthy. But, why? Do you really know why it is important to drink water? Did you know that if you drink at least a gallon of water a day it will keep you regular? A gallon of water actually flushes out the system. When I say the system, I mean body. My bowels stayed regular from drinking gallons of water. As someone with gastric issues, water benefits me in multiple ways. I am not as tired. I lost a few inches and some weight. Water is intrinsic to my life. In all our life. Now,  it's a staple of my day-to-day routine. Becoming healthy is a Lifestyle. Drinking water makes me feel full and digestion wise I am no longer constipated. I've also read that water flushes the organs, such as lungs and liver. I found myself often thirsty in some cases due to medication. Water has definitely helped me with dehydration and thirst elimination. At times I became so thi...

Eating Healthy

Journal Date: April 13, 2017                                                                     Eating healthy is important. I had to learn to stop making excuses. Even in the midst of being ill. A decision to eat right is as equally important as it is to exercise. There are seasons in your life where you may not be able to physically exercise. I mean physically unable to move. In my situation, I had to ask myself what is it that I can do to modify the conditions to best fit me,  I recognized that I needed to make efforts in increments to make progress. So, ultimately, the moment I decided to eat better. By making simple changes in what I drink and ate helped me a lot. If you need a place to start-start by drinking water. It's the easiest and simplest thing you can do without any immediate cost. I know ...

I simply get annoyed with trivial things that are so insignificant to all that life is. At which, I learn to take initiative whether I felt like it or not. I promise it is life-changing. This strategy requires that you move beyond what you see and do what needs to be done to get the result you desire. It's no way around this one. Until Next Time, -Lavi

If you could do one thing different what would it be?

March 30, 2017 If I could do one thing different it would be to work through fear. My fear was something that alerted me to think-hey, I don't think I want to do that or learn that it looks hard. I'd rather play it safe. Safe never gets you anywhere or anything. Don't be afraid to work through fear. It's a scary thing to learn to work through fear. Once I learn to just take one step, then take the next step and take the next step and another step. I realized that working through fear is beneficial. Working through fear is a process.                           You can only see what's next if you decide to take the next step.                                        ...

Is the Legal field becoming Lean?

March 27, 2017 For years, I've loved everything the study of law has to offer. I had a desire to become an attorney earlier on in life. Except, changes presented a different outcome. Of...

Twenty-Sixteen

July 23, 2016 I've had an opportunity to reflect on life. To be honest I'm always in reflective mode. There is so much I want to accomplish. For instance, mindset goals is not the same as goals with effort. The difference is both take two forms that vary in action. I read this book that actions have no season written by two brothers who are attorneys. The book immediately inspired my thoughts and I still have not acted on aspirations of known, but I plan to do so soon.  A few personal goals will avail in the near future and I am adamant about allowing myself to be as creative as possible just to see what I can do.  Back to me....and- I'm loving it.... Want to Do Better- Decision Making

December 27, 2015 It's 3:39 am and I cannot sleep. Thinking too much about life and the choices I've made. Some good some not so good. The price you pay for pursuing the permission of others. Allowing people, random people-even family members who I deem as random people allowed to make decisions for you that are not in your best interests. As people, we give others too much access, absolutely too much access to the decisions that must be made in our life. Too much access to suggestive thinking, when the decision is entirely yours to make. I ask myself, what will be different in the next few days? What will 2016 bring? Daily we live as if we control life's clock. In fact, the one who's yet to unveil the mystery of life is the one who has complete control. He sets the time table of life, the beginning, and the end. The thought alone should be disturbing because ultimately, people do not control the very thing they give others to access. Be careful of who you acce...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Merry Christmas Everyone!   December 25, 2015 One of my favorite Holidays of the Year, Christmas. Lights, Lights, Lights, all of the Lights. Christmas Trees. I love Christmas, a reason to give, whether its hugs to gifts. Most importantly, remember Christ our Lord Jesus, the very reason for choosing to have a better life. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. -Lavi

New Book & More !

December 21, 2015 So, I'm reading this new book I have by Cora Jakes-Coleman on Faithing It . An awesome read by the way. Within the first few pages, I was hooked. It's a read that I needed, no matter the internal and external chaos that has engulfed my life.  I find my self in a situation that makes me the angriest person in my world. Like most Americans in our country, I sincerely am not enjoying my current employment. It's easy for people to advise with their unwanted opinions even though the decision concerning me does not affect them in any way. Years before, I had a knack for listening to people convey their problems and sounding off their frustration in their daily life. At the time, I was able to really soak it in, be the listening ear, give advice and Godly advice at that, now, the time has come, where I no longer feel concern about humanity and the concerns thereof. I will have to ask God to help me with that because I did not always feel this way. I find m...
What I find most intriguing is the ability to read and relax my thoughts in reading. I read this article and it talks about the "Golden Rule" written by a therapist from the 'NY' here's the link if you're interested, http://www.goodtherapy.org/Brooklyn-Therapy.htm. I believe, I do what most people do, never think to treat myself like I would treat a bestie. You somehow ignore the thought and forget that you too are human. There are things in life that is overwhelming and most people have no one to talk with and talk about these things without limits. It's difficult. Reading this article allowed me to revisit my thoughts and sit with them to understand the new phase, I'm currently experiencing. I believe it is important to take care of yourself in the same way you would take care of others. Life happens, things that are beyond your control and learning to deal with each phase in your life will help and allow you to mature as an individual. I have fo...
Hi Guys, So I have been reading this book on money management. It is my desire to become debt-free in the next few years or at least cut my debt in half. I decided to learn as much as I can about debt-free-living. So far, I'm in chapter 8, a section on credit scores and credit reports of the book. Taking the time to understand debt basics and having gone through multiple sessions of debt counseling, I have learned a lot. By learning and applying these simple tools, I have been free of credit card debt for five years.  I had major credit card issues and one of my projects within the last five years was to eliminate unnecessary credit card use. In which I have done. My motto is "if I can't pay cash for it, I will not buy it." I HATE owing debt, I simply hate it, and it does not justify the means to owe the world and barely live. Seriously, the "struggle is REAL." So, I decided to take on my debt as a personal project and see if the end results would...
Good Morning Folks, The Presidential Election is on its way with the GOP Republican camp. The Democratic Party has settled into their choice for the next Democratic president-elect and it's Senora Hilliary Clinton. For years we have watched men run this country into the ground with all their ideologies and power plays, it's time for a new direction. The GOP candidates can speak all they want, it's hands down Hilliary Clinton for me. I would like to see the First Female President after Obama's reign. To all the voters out there choose wisely, know your candidates for this is not the time to slack on knowledge, but it is a time to become informed . America we are smart people- intellectual people and have more degrees to cover the variances of the earth and we need to use that same intelligence to select the "Right" candidate. Your selection of the next President determines your future, so I request that every American dig in and become knowledgeable ab...
Sunday Morning, I awoke from a nightmare with living and dead people in it. I know eating late at night is not a good thing, but I got hungry and craved a sandwich. I drank two cups of tea (sweet tea) and laid out. Until this morning, when my dream awoke me with an uneasiness that I did not like. I am waiting to watch T.D. Jakes via the internet for my morning worship. These sessions have kept me going post-surgery. Last night, I watched Sheryl Brady, a pastor. Pastor Brady's messages are inspirational. Anyhoo, here's what I know. If you are unable to attend church on a regular basis and you want to feel as if you are still sustaining your worship life. Streamline a few of the well-known bishops, pastors, or inspirational leaders that will keep you uplifted. Another thing to do is purchase devotional material, it will keep you inspired. Research to see if there are free devotionals online. Sometimes you may find some good ones and you will feel as if you have not missed a...
